Drink Safe personal protection against drink spiking. Our business idea centres on the growing concerns of women about the increasing number of reported drink spiking incidents in pubs and night clubs. Team 6 have developed an original idea for producing a silicone rubber disk in different sizes, which would sit over your glass and smaller rubber caps for beer bottles and alcopop bottles. Drink Safe could be used with or without a straw and hopes to make it more difficult to tip a substance into a drink. Beer Saver is an existing complimentary product that could be purchased wholesale from the manufacturers in the UK and marketed within Australia.
Custom designed silicone covers are made from food grade quality silicone and can be ordered in large quantities at minimal cost. The disks can be different colours and themes to complement a funky and creative online marketing campaign.
Drink Safe can be sold online in packages and themes of 6 to 12 units per package at low cost. Start-up costs and overheads would be very low, reducing exposure to excessive debt. The business would start small as a home based online business and is predicted to grow quickly, through the marketing campaigns and promotion of wholesale sales direct to bottle shops and supermarkets.
The wholesale arm of the business would approach supermarkets, bottle shops and other retailers in the hope of getting Drink Safe onto the shelves of as many businesses as possible.
The product would be marketed as a "Aussie Invention" and highlight personal safety and looking after your mates. There is no similar product currently selling in Australia. The campaign would be targeted towards 18-26 year old females and would utilise social media, toilet doors and direct email and telesales to businesses.
